Stonehelm provides legal services in three areas: mining and mineral rights law, elder law and guardianship, and venture capital and private equity transactions. Services are available to clients based in Malaysia and, where appropriate, matters involving Malaysian law from outside Malaysia. A formal Engagement commences only upon the execution of a written engagement letter.

7. Engagement and Payment Terms
Legal services are provided under a written engagement letter that sets out the scope, fees, and terms of each matter. Fees for each practice area begin at the amounts stated on our website (MYR 3,700 for mining and mineral rights, MYR 1,500 for elder law matters, and MYR 4,200 for venture capital and private equity). Final fees depend on the complexity and scope of the matter. Invoices are payable in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) within the period specified in the engagement letter. Disbursements and third-party costs are charged separately where applicable.
8. Confidentiality
Stonehelm maintains legal professional privilege and professional confidentiality in all client matters. Information shared with us in the course of a legal engagement or enquiry is treated as confidential. Our obligations are detailed further in our Privacy Policy at privacy-policy.html.
9. Disclaimers
This website is provided "as is". Stonehelm makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of the information on this website. We do not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted or error-free. Legal outcomes depend on many factors beyond our control, and no specific result is implied or warranted by the information on this website.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, Stonehelm's liability arising from the use of this website or from any legal services provided is limited to the fees paid by the client for the specific matter in question. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the website or reliance on its content. This limitation does not apply to liability arising from fraud, willful misconduct, or gross negligence.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Stonehelm, its practitioners, and staff from any claims, losses, liabilities, or expenses (including legal costs) arising from your breach of these Terms or your use of this website in an unlawful or unauthorised manner.
12. Termination
Either party may terminate a legal engagement in accordance with the terms set out in the relevant engagement letter. Stonehelm reserves the right to cease providing services where professional rules require or permit withdrawal. Upon termination, fees for work completed to date become payable. Stonehelm may suspend or restrict access to this website at any time without notice.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms and any disputes arising from them are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia sitting in Kuala Lumpur. Before commencing formal proceedings, the parties agree to attempt resolution through direct communication in good faith.
14. General Provisions
- Entire agreement: These Terms, together with any executed engagement letter, constitute the entire agreement between you and Stonehelm regarding your use of this website and legal services.
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
- Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of the right to enforce it in the future.
- Assignment: You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The date of the most recent revision appears at the top of this page. Continued use of this website following an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. For material changes, we will indicate the update prominently on the website.
